Environment, Sustainability & Heritage: Contemporary Educational Practices (PAMAK)

The Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning of the University of Macedonia, organizes a one-time training programme entitled “Environment, Sustainability and Cultural Heritage: Modern Educational Practices” of 450 hours duration, which will be conducted remotely using the method of modern and asynchronous tele-education.

The aim of this project is to explore contemporary educational practices in the fields of environment, sustainability and cultural heritage in the context of the thematic units included in the new school curriculum.
In particular, it focuses on the broader scientific training and professional development of teachers, scientists-researchers and other interested parties on issues related to Education, Environment and Culture.

The Programme is addressed to:

  • to primary and secondary school teachers
  • adult educators
  • special educational staff
  • undergraduate and postgraduate students of corresponding specialties
  • school counsellors
  • psychologists
  • sociologists and social workers
  • unemployed
  • those who wish to be trained in environmental and cultural issues in the context of sustainable development and to work in relevant educational and social structures

  • World and local cultural heritage : theoretical framework and protection practices
  • Ecology – World and Local Natural Heritage : content, significance and examples

The mode of delivery of the programme is through distance learning and, in particular, through the mixed use of synchronous and asynchronous tele-education. The programme is intensive and specifically the teaching hours are distributed as follows:

  • 20 hours of modern tele-education for conducting experiential learning techniques and examples, in consultation with the lecturers
  • 430 hours of asynchronous tele-education, which will include, among other things, assignments on broader topics (case studies), electronic tests per module and submission of a final project at the end of the programme

The asynchronous tele-education method enables the learner to study regardless of time and space constraints, with the gradual delivery of the educational material, with a timetable of tasks and test submission deadlines.

Programme evaluation In order to obtain the Certificate, the trainees are assessed by means of assignments and tests (optional) during the programme and by submitting a final assignment (compulsory) at the end of the programme. After the successful assessment, the participants are provided with a Certificate by the Lifelong Learning Centre of the University of Macedonia.
