Intercultural Education: multiculturalism in the Educational System (PAMAK)

The Center for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the University of Macedonia, organizes a Training Program, entitled “Intercultural Education: approaching Multiculturalism in the Educational System”, lasting 452 hours and 9 months, which will take place through a modern and asynchronous tele-education platform .

The aim of the programme is for the trainees to:

  • at a knowledge level, recognise the basic principles of intercultural education and interpret theoretical terms of sociology of education and critical pedagogy
  • at a skill level, apply educational and social models of approaching diversity and develop techniques for exploring multiculturalism in the educational environment
  • attitudinally to participate in the intercultural educational process and to deal with issues of prejudice and stereotyping in the educational and social sphere

 

The programme is aimed at:

  • To teachers at all levels of education (active, substitutes, in-service teachers)
  • To adult educators and special education staff
  • To undergraduate and postgraduate students of TEI-TEI of corresponding specialties
  • School counsellors, psychologists, sociologists, social workers, social and political science graduates
  • To those who wish to be trained in intercultural education and to work in relevant educational and social structures (intercultural schools and special education schools, municipalities, services and structures of Reception, Asylum, Refugee Flows and Vulnerable Social Groups)

The mode of delivery of the programme is through distance learning and, in particular, through the mixed use of synchronous and asynchronous tele-education. The programme is intensive and the teaching hours are distributed as follows:

  • 22 hours of synchronous tele-education to conduct experiential learning techniques and examples, in consultation with the lecturers.
  • 430 hours of asynchronous tele-education, which will include, among other things, assignments on broader topics (case studies), electronic tests per module and presentation of a final project at the end of the programme in the form of a project

To obtain the Certificate, the trainee is assessed by assignments and tests during the programme and by submitting a final project at the end of the programme. After successful assessment, a Certificate is provided to the participants by the Lifelong Learning Centre of the University of Macedonia.

GradingThetraining programme is graded and provides a strong comparative advantage in calls for applications whose criteria correspond to the characteristics of the programme, as well as for employment in Private Educational Organisations.
Specifically, it ensures two (2) points for General Education (in accordance with Law 4589/2019 – Article 57) and half (1/2) point for Education Executives in Progress (in accordance with Law 4547/2018, as updated by Law 4623/2019 – Article 24).
